Enjoy highlights from John Pfumojena’s original Zimbabwean Jazz-fusion score for Tangle’s trailblazing 2020 production of Ben Jonson’s Volpone, recorded in lockdown.
Tangle’s touring production of Ben Jonson’s Volpone was cut short in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During those lockdown months, Tangle’s Associate Artist and Volpone’s Composer and Musical Director John Pfumojena started playing with the music and creating standalone versions of some of the show’s songs.
Commissioned by Tangle, John teamed up with producer Drew Baumohl and Zimbabwean musician Tawanda Mapanda to record a new EP, celebrating the efforts of all the artists and behind-the-scenes staff who saw their work interrupted before its time.
To mark the release of Amina Kadeya, we have created a special album e-sleeve, which includes an introduction by our Artistic Director Anna Coombs and John Pfumojena, as well as lyrics from the songs.
